History
History of Iglesia Voz Que Clama en el Desierto
(Voice That Cries in the Wilderness)
Iglesia Voz Que Clama en el Desierto, translated as Voice That Cries in the Wilderness, is a bilingual Pentecostal church located at:
Iglesia Voz Que Clama en el Desierto
The church is led by Pastor Juan Carlos Sixtos and his wife, Roxana Sixtos, along with their daughter Rachel Sixtos, who is 8 years old.
The church was founded in 2014 under the spiritual covering and support of the council La Verdad Que Liberta (“The Truth That Sets You Free”) located in Chicago.
Our congregation began humbly by gathering in a garage for worship and prayer. As the ministry continued to grow, we began searching for a permanent place to worship. During that time, Pastor James Wright and the congregation of Mt. Olive Baptist Church graciously opened their doors to us. Since 2014, we have shared the church building together in unity and fellowship.
We are a Pentecostal church that believes strongly in the movement and power of the Holy Spirit. We believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still active today in the lives of believers who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. We believe that every Christian is called to live as a temple of the Holy Spirit and to demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit as taught in The Epistle to the Galatians.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.” — Galatians 5:22–23
We also believe in repentance, the confession of sins, and the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus still heals, delivers, saves, and transforms lives today.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” — 1 John 1:9
As a church, we firmly believe in the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit — three distinct persons revealed throughout the Holy Scriptures.
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” — Matthew 28:19
We are a bilingual church that warmly welcomes everyone, regardless of background, to come and worship with us. We hold services during the week and on weekends, seeking to glorify God, preach the Gospel, and serve our community with love and truth.
